The National Council of Electronic Media (NEPLP) on Monday issued a permit for broadcasting the television program “Rain”/TV Rain. This means that in the future the TV channel will be broadcast from Riga, Ivars Abolins, chairman of NEPLP, told Leta agency.
In early March, the independent Russian Rain television channel stopped for a while, and its editor -in -chief Tikhon Dzyadko and many editorial workers left Russia. Already at that moment, the leadership of the channel began to discuss the format in which the rain will be able to continue work, writes rus.delfi.lv.
Channel Director General Natalya Sindeeva, explained the decision to suspend the activities of the rain by the Law on the spread of fake news, which was adopted by the State Duma.
“Rain” will appear in the list of channels registered in Latvia on June 9. Abolins confirmed that negotiations on the broadcast of the television channel from Latvia were about three months, various entrepreneurs of the Latvian media sphere participated in them.
