Rashid Ismailov, Ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Communications, became a candidate from Russia to the post of Secretary General of the International Union of Telecommunication (ITU). This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Communication and Mass Communications Maksut Shadaev in the sidelines “of the Russian Forum on Internet Management (RIGF-2021).”
ITU is a specialized UN facilification that regulates the international frequency distribution and defines recommendations in the field of telecommunications and radio.
“If the Russian candidate will stand at the head of such a respected international organization, it will be, first, honorable, and secondly, the voice of Russia will be perceived with great attention,” the Russian newspaper quotes Sudaev.
Baku Rashid Ismailov From 2014 to 2018, he worked as Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, in 2017 the Member States of the Union approved him as Chairman of the ITU 2018 Council.
The election of the ITU Secretary-General will be held in 2022.
