Reason For Crash Of Helicopter In South Africa Was Penguin Carried Into Cab

Investigation of the crash of a helicopter that occurred on January 19 in the South African Republic, showed that the penguin became the cause of the incident, which was carried into the cabin, violating the flight rules.

South African Civil Aviation Department (SACAA) published a report on the crash of a helicopter in the province of East Cape.

According to the report, the cause of the accident was the presence of Penguin in the cabin, which is a violation of flight rules.

The penguin was transported in the box held by the researcher sitting in the front passenger seat. During take -off, Penguin tried to get out of the box.

At that moment, the box fell on the dashboard in front of the pilot, which led to a sharp roll of a helicopter to the right when it rose only 15 meters.

The pilot could not cope with the control, and the helicopter fell 20 meters from the take -off point, receiving serious damage. As a result of the accident, no one died or suffered, including Penguin.

The report notes that the pilot neglected the flight rules, not making sure that the penguin is in a fixed and safe box. “This accident emphasizes the importance of compliance with the established security protocols and aviation safety procedures,” the SACAA says.
