Reasons for US pressure on Libya are

CIA Director William Burns in mid -January demanded from the commander of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Caliphs of Haftar to expel the Wagner PMC from the country, writes The Wall Street Journal with reference to European and Libyan security forces.

The Director of the CIA visited Libya amid concern that the Russian PMC could gain access to oil. During the visit, Berns warned Haftar against the placement of the Wagnerians in the country.

CIA director also met in Tripoli with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeib. After it, the US Treasury recognized the private military company as a transnational criminal organization.
