In 2021, the number of people suffering from hunger or do not have access to full nutrition reached a record value – from 702 million to 828 million people. This was reported in the report “The Regulation of cases in the field of food security and food in the world 2022”, prepared by the UN food and agricultural organization, the World Food Program (WFP) and a number of other organizations.
If the number of starving is on the upper border, this corresponds to 10.5% of the world’s population – versus 9.9% in 2020 and 8.4% in 2019.
According to the authors of the report, the record number of people is on the verge of starvation – 345 million people. Experts believe that due to the war in Ukraine and the associated price growth, the situation will only worsen.
