Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov During the visit to New York to participate in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, I met with representatives of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the coalition of American Jewish organizations, the press service of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry reports.
According to the report, during the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the US Jewish communities, exchanged views on the prospects for future interaction.
Informing the interlocutors about the traditions of interreligious harmony, tolerance and multiculturalism existing in Azerbaijan, the minister said that Christians, Jews and representatives of other religions also live in a country with a Muslim majority of the population in conditions of mutual understanding, peace and good neighborliness. Noting that Azerbaijan attaches importance to establishing close ties with the Jewish communities of the whole world, D. Bailenov said that a large number of synagogue, Jewish schools and cultural centers operate in the republic.
At the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on the last situation in the South Caucasus region, the Patriotic War of Azerbaijan and its results.
The Minister informed his interlocutors about large-scale recovery and construction work held on the Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenian occupation, spoke about the targeted destruction of Armenia infrastructure and cultural and historical monuments in the Azerbaijani lands during the occupation period, the plundering of cultural heritage.
AJC representatives expressed appreciation for supporting and care for the Jewish community that manifested by the Azerbaijani government.
At the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on the prospects for the development of connections between Azerbaijan and the United States.
