Researchers: In Morning, People Feel Happier Than In Evening

A person’s mood changes significantly depending on the time of day and day of the week. This conclusion was reached by London researchers from University College London.

Researchers analyzed a million data collected in two years from 50 thousand participants in the survey.

The study of the time of the time of day on different emotions, such as depression, anxiety, happiness, satisfaction with life, loneliness and a sense of its meaningfulness, was studied.

According to the results of the study, in the morning people experience more positive emotions, but by the end of the day their mood is reduced. It also turned out that on weekends people feel happier than on weekdays.

– How emotions change during the day and week

The results showed that positive emotions, such as happiness and satisfaction with life, are more expressed on Monday and Friday compared to Sunday.

At the same time, it is noted that the symptoms of depression and anxiety are more often manifested in the morning on Tuesday and Wednesday, decrease during the day, but intensify again by night.

The results of the study indicate that the emotional background of a person in the daytime is always higher than in the evening, and by the end of the day, positive emotions are wearing. However, the level of loneliness during the week remains stable.

– seasonal and hormonal influences

According to the scientists, people feel less depressed in the spring, summer and autumn compared to winter. At the same time, the level of positive emotions in the warm months is higher, but the daily mood swings do not depend on the season.

Scientists associate changes in the psycho -emotional state with hormonal vibrations. In particular, the level of cortisol, which affects anxiety and motivation, is maximum immediately after waking up and decreases in the evening.

The results of the study are published in the journal BMJ Mental Health.
