USA Over the past decade, he created a crowded secret army, whose members perform various assignments of the Pentagon both within the country and abroad. This became known to publish NewsWeek according to the results of a two-year journalistic investigation.
According to the American newspaper, a total of 60 thousand people enter into a secret network, while the real number of such agents may be even more. About 130 private organizations are involved in the program, as well as dozens of little-known and secret government organizations. Every year more than 900 million dollars is spent on servicing the secret army, NEWSWeek calculated. These funds go, in particular, on the manufacture of fake documents for agents acting under the fictional names, payment of accounts and taxes on their behalf and to create special devices for tracking and means of disguise.
It is noted that about half of all employees of the secret network make up agents from the forces of special operations. Some of them work in combat areas, for example, in Pakistan and West Africa, tracking terrorists, but most often they will be involved in the tasks in such unfriendly US countries like Iran and North Korea. Also, the secret army includes military intelligence specialists working under cover in different countries.
In addition, the publication writes, in the framework of the secret network there are thousands of cybersecurity professionals and collecting intelligence accessible on the Internet. Members of this unit are engaged in ensuring the safety of the entire network, helping to hide information on all people and organizations participating in the secret missions of Pentagon.
Thus, NEWSWeek notes, spyware working on the Pentagon acts about the same as the agents of Russia and China, which official Washington regularly accuses to carry out similar operations.
