At today’s meeting, the Plenum of the Supreme Court considered the case of the four former members of the Civil Movement of Nida – Zura Gurbanly, Rashadat Akhundov, Rashad Hasanova and Uzeyer Mammadli.
According to HaqQin.az, on the basis of the decision of the European Court of Human Rights, the Plenum concluded that NIDA members did not commit any crimes in 2013 and were erroneous arrested.
By the decision of the Supreme Court, a criminal case against the four of the above persons was stopped, they were justified. The resolution also provides for compensation in the amount of 188 thousand manat for their illegal and unreasonable detention.
Former Civil Movements of the NIDA were arrested in March 2013 on charges of organizing riots and illegal storage of weapons and sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 6 to 8 years. Some of them have already been pardoned by the presidential order. Only one member of the organization, Ilkin Rustamzade, was imprisoned until March 2019.
