Russian troops can retreat from the Kherson region, as Russia is potentially ready for this. This was stated by Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov, writes BBC.
“I think that they are potentially ready for the next act of goodwill relative to the right bank of the Dnieper, in the Kherson and region, but for this they still have to lose part of their potential due to the response of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.
According to the minister, Russia has the habit of “showing gestures of goodwill.” An example of this was the withdrawal of troops from the Kyiv region and from the island of Zmein.
“Rainy weather in the Kherson region also affects hostilities, and Russians use irrigation systems and channels as trenches, which are many in the Kherson region,” said Alexei Reznikov.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine admits that Russia is trying to lure the Armed Forces of Ukraine, creating the impression of the plans of the Russian military to leave the territories they occupied. Now the Ukrainian military is moving forward on several fronts in Kherson, but Russia has strengthened positions on both banks of the Dnieper.
