Demonstrators in the east of Sudan blocked the supply through the oil pipeline connecting the capital of Hartum with the city of Hey. RIA Novosti reported that on Thursday a group of protesters of the “Supreme Council of the Bedjig tribes” snuck into the airport of Port Sudan in the north-east of the country and stopped the operation of the air harbor.
“The revolutionaries of the East by decision of the Supreme Council were blocked by the High-Hartum oil pipeline,” the Council states on Facebook.
Also protesters have established control over the city’s railway station – the line leads to the coast of the Red Sea, where Port Sudan is located and other key ports.
Previously representatives of the tribes of the East of Sudan, in particular, the tribe of the Besja, blocked the road between the capital Khartoum and Port Sudan, the resulting transportation of goods between the cities of the country was difficult. He heads the Council of the Tribal Muhammad al-Amin Turk. Representatives of the tribes require a change in the Peace Agreement of Juba, concluded in October 2020, as they believe that their interests were not taken into account.
