In the course of its election campaign, the ex-president and leader of the “Iyastan” block Robert Kocharian visited Zangezur (Armenian version – Syunik region). It is reported by HAQQIN.AZ with reference to the Armenian media.
During meetings in the Megrinsky district, according to which the Zangezur Corridor, as provided by a tripartite agreement, will connect Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Kocharyan made a provocative statement – the initiative to change the North-South route and laying a new railway service in Iran through Megry. According to him, the question of the roads in some places became a matter of life.
Kocharyan with sadness noted that he was not quite pleasant to watch the Azerbaijani flags nearby. Recall that after delimiting the border on this section of the boundary between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the division of the state border guard of Azerbaijan was taken by new posts on the border.
“We understand that the construction of the North-South road has already begun to quickly move to the south, here. Sorry that the construction began from the center. I think it was necessary to start with Syunik,” the ex-president noted.
He noted that it would be necessary to try to postpone the part of the North-South program towards Megry.
