The main event of the last two days in Azerbaijani football was the appointment of Romanian Laurenciu Reghakampfa to the post of head coach of Neftech.
The contract with the new steering was signed on June 21 – exactly a month before the first match of the Baku Club in the Conferences League against Cyprus Arisa. Yes, Neftechi was a little late with the appointment of the head coach. Negotiations were conducted with several candidates. The media called the names of the Belarusian Viktor Goncharenko, Ukrainian Yuri Vernidub, Turk Ertugrul Sagogam … The surname Reghakammpf was not mentioned, and the choice of “Neftechi” was a surprise to both fans and representatives of the media.
I wonder what place in the priority of the Romanians occupied in the list of candidates? It is unlikely that for the leadership of Neftechi Reghakampf was candidate number 1 … However, now it does not matter. As the President of the Club Kamran Guliyev said at yesterday’s presentation of the new head coach, some candidates failed to agree on technical issues, with some on financial issues. As a result, the former football player and head coach of the Bucharest Stayaa turned out to be the most acceptable option.
Naturally, the first thing we do, wanting to make our opinion about the coach, are looking at his track record. Being a football player, Reghakampf, in addition to the Stayaa, played for the Romanian “Current”, the Austrian “St. Petersburg”, the Bulgarian “Litex”, the German “Energia”, “Alemania” and “Kaizerslauturn”. Starting in 2009 a coaching career, Laurenciu managed to work in ten clubs. Moreover, in some of them two or even three times.
He achieved great success quite quickly. Already in the third year of his coaching activity, Laurenciu, leading the most famous Romania club “Stayaa”, led him to the championship after a 7-year break, and twice in a row. In 2013, under the leadership of the Reghaua Reghakampf, she reached the 1/8 finals of the Europa League, passing the Amsterdam Ajax. The future winner of the Chelsea tournament was not easily knocked out by the European Cups: Stayaa’s houses won 1: 0, and in London lost 1: 3. In the same year, the current mentor of Neftechi for the first time in five years brought the Romanian club to the group stage of the Champions League.
It seemed that such successes could open the path to the stronger European championships for the coach. However, Rage, as the coach is abbreviated, chose a different path. On the crest of success, he went to the Al-Kilal Arabian club and brought the team to the final of the Asian Champions League.
Then the ex-winner for a short time led the Bulgarian Liteks, after which, in December 2015, it was announced his return to Stayaa. However, the second parish in the Krasno-Siny camp was far from so successful. The team failed to win either the championship or break into the Champions League group, content with only the group stage of the Europa League.
Without waving the laurels in Romania, Rage again went to the Middle East. With the club “Al-Vahda” Laurenciu won the League Cup, the UAE Super Cup and took 2nd place in the championship. Later, working in another Emirate team – al -Vasl, saved her from departure.
