Rosatom Delivered Melt Trap To PAKSH-2 NPP Site In Hungary

“Rosatom” delivered “the melt trap to the site of the construction of the first power unit of Paksh-2 NPP in Hungary.

This is stated in a statement by the press service of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” – a multidisciplinary holding that combines assets in the energy, engineering, construction.

“On August 1, 2024, the first bulky cargo was delivered to the construction site of the new power units of the Paksh NPP (Hungary, General Designer and General Contractor – the engineering division of the Rosatom State Corporation) – the melt localization device (ULR), – follows from messages. It is an important part of the station’s passive security system, the corporation noted.

The components of the ULR for power unit No. 5 of the PAKS NPP were delivered from Russia by water from Volgodonsk to PAKSh, transporting the equipment of the vessel overcame 3,200 kilometers in a total of 48 days, the holding said.

“It is deeply symbolic that the first bulky equipment that arrived at the construction site of the PAKSH-2 NPP is an element of the station security systems. Reliability and safety of the new Hungarian nuclear power plant is thus laid long before the start of its operation. We make maximum efforts, So that at the end of this, the beginning of next year, we can proceed with the construction of power units, and the subsequent installation of ULR – an important element of passive safety of the new Hungarian nuclear power plant, ”said Vitaly Polyanin, Vice -President of the Paksh NPP.

Preparatory work for the construction of power unit No. 5, for which the installation of the melt is intended, are carried out according to the plan, according to the corporation’s website.

Currently, the soil strengthening is being completed, and there is a preparation for the excavation of the soil from the pit to the design mark, 23 meters, which is the condition for the start of the preparation of the foundation slab and subsequent large -scale work on the construction of a new energy facility.

“Our common goal with the general contractor is to build a safe atomic power plant as soon as possible. We have passed important stages: last year we completed the construction of a 2.7 -kilometer anti -filtration curtain, the stabilization of the soil continues, and the excavation of the soil began with the tests before The project level is increasing the pace of work on the site and in the area of the construction and installation base.
