Rosatom Does Not See Point In Joint Management Of Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant With Ukrainian Energoatom

The head of the Russian State Corporation, Alexei Likhachev, said that he did not see the point of joint management of the Zaporizhzhya NPP Rosatom and the Ukrainian Energoatom.

“I do not see any sense in this,” said Likhachev, whose words are given by Russian media.

According to him, nuclear safety and safety of nuclear facilities are one of Russia’s priorities as part of the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.

“Of course, our main expectation from the peaceful process and negotiations is stability and this is the observance of Russia’s interests. Nuclear security is one of the unconditional priorities, and in this sense, the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and Kursk in the zone of special attention. All conditions for the safe operation of nuclear facilities should be observed,” he emphasized.

Likhachev also said that the Western countries retained the level of cooperation with Rosat and are interested in deliveries, while “the countries are friendly, developing their economies that create their nuclear energy, multiplying, and several times have increased” with the state corporation.

Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant has been under the control of Russian troops since the beginning of March 2022.
