Iran’s authorities planned to get millions of doses of a coronavirus vaccine through COVAX (an international mechanism launched WHO to supply vaccines from coronavirus), but this was prevented by US sanctions. This was stated by the President of Iran Hasan Roukhani.

According to Roukhani, “Iranian side agreed through COVAX to purchase 16.8 million doses of the vaccine, then tried to pay, but could not (because of the restrictions imposed by the United States).” “I would like our people to clearly realize this crime of Washington,” added IRI president ..
In January, the official representative of the government of Iran Ali Raby said that Tehran held talks with COVAX and the Islamic Republic will receive 16.8 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine. However, then the deliveries were announced.
