US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the meeting of the US special representative for the affairs of captured Adam Böhler with the representative of Hamas Halil Al-Haya was a “one-time case.”
According to the press service of the State Department, Rubio made this statement on board the plane on the way to the Saudi city of Jidd, where he plans to meet with Ukrainian officials.
According to the head of the US Foreign Policy Department, Böhler held negotiations with Hamas representatives in Qatar to discuss the liberation of American hostages. However, Rubio emphasized that the meeting did not bring specific results.
“Our main trick is a process that takes place in Qatar with the participation of the special representative of US President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff,” he said.
Rubio also called Hamas again to immediately release all the prisoners.
Steve Witkoff, in turn, plans to negotiate in the capital of Katar Doha on the release of prisoners and possible ceasefire.
