Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Chairman of China Si Jinping during a meeting in Beijing signed a joint statement, proclaiming the transition of international relations to a new era, the Kremlin’s website says, lenta.ru reports.
In his statement, the leaders of the two countries, in particular, noted that the world is currently experiencing large-scale changes, including the development of multipolarity, strengthening the economic globalization and interdependence of the state, as well as the growth of cultural diversity.
In addition, the heads of Russia and China stressed that both countries have “deep traditions of democracy based on the thousand-year development experience,” and called on a number of states to abandon attempts to impose their democratic standards by creating “narrow-format blocks and situational alliances”.
“The parties oppose the abuse of democratic values, interference with the internal affairs of sovereign states under the pretext of protecting democracy and human rights, as well as against attempts to provoke split and confrontation in the world,” the document says.
