The war in Ukraine is harmful to China, writes Bloomberg, quoting Chinese experts.
The dean of the Institute of International Relations of the University of Qinghua Yang Sueton believes that the conflict carries “only loss and destruction for China, but does not bear any benefit.” Earlier, he argued that the war put Beijing “in a difficult situation”, since due to its balancing strategy, China suffers economic losses.
The agency also cites the words of the former ambassador of China to Ukraine, Gao Yushen, who stated that Russia was “two -faced” and violating promises, including in relation to the former republics of the USSR. The publication calls Yushen’s words “one of the most striking criticisms regarding China’s policy” since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine.
As Bloomberg writes, despite Beijing’s statements that he does not support the Russian “special operation” in Ukraine, the PRC has repeatedly performed in the opposition to Washington, which insists on the withdrawal of Russian troops. In addition, Chinese diplomats confirmed plans to expand strategic ties with Moscow.
RBC recalls that China abstained from voting for the draft resolution, urging Russia to stop military operations during the UN Security Council meeting. The President of the PRC, when organizing Zhang Jun, said that the expansion of NATO affected the “legal concern of Russia in terms of security” and they should be carefully taken into account. Later, Beijing several times stated that he advocated the resolution of the crisis by negotiations.
