Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia Selinda Sosa Lunda condemned the coup attempt in Bolivia.
As stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Lavrov and Lunda spoke by phone.
During the conversation, the Russian side “condemned the attempt of a coup in Bolivia, emphasizing the unacceptability of any actions aimed at undermining the constitutional foundations of the sovereign states, and expressed full and unshakable support to the Bolivian government”.
Lavrov emphasized the importance of uniting forces and structures for the development of the country and expressed “solidarity with Bolivia – a reliable strategic partner of Russia.”
The ministers confirmed the commitment to the agreements reached between Russia and Bolivia in June.
The attempt of a military coup, made on Wednesday, a group of military, led by General Jose Zuniga in a South American country, failed thanks to the decisive actions of President Luis Arsa and the protests of the people.
