In Russia, the “shadow fleet” of tankers for the transportation of oil with unknown owners is created, Bloomberg said with reference to experts.
It is noted that events are unfolding against the background of an early entry into force of the EU embargo for the supply of Russian oil.
“If you look at how many vessels have been sold over the past six months by unnamed customers, it becomes completely clear that a fleet is being created for their transportation,” said Christian Ingerslev chief executive director of Maersk Tankers.
Braemar ship broker believes that Russia will require 240 vessels that were previously used to transport Iranian and Venezuelan oil. However, in his opinion, even this amount will not be enough to support exports at the level of 4 million barrels per day to Asian markets.
