The cause of the collapse of the Russian dry carrier Ursa Major in the Mediterranean Sea was a targeted terrorist attack.

This was stated by the owner of the vessel – the group of companies “Oboronologism”.

According to this information, the cause of the collapse of the Russian dry cargo ship URSA Major in the Mediterranean Sea was a terrorist attack. The company noted that, according to the testimony of crew members, three consecutive explosions occurred from the right side of the vessel in the area of ​​the stern, after which it received a sharp roll.

“According to the testimonies of the crew of the vessel, on December 23, 2024. At 11:50 local time, three consecutive explosions occurred from the right side in the area of ​​the feed part, after which the ship received a sharp roll to the right side of up to 25 degrees, which testified to the supply of water to the ship’s premises, ”the company reports.

The report says that the Ursa Major ship, one of the largest dry cargo loads in Russia (maximum load capacity of 9.5 thousand tons), followed from the large port of St. Petersburg to the port of Vladivostok with a design cargo weighing 806 tons.

According to defense facilities, there were two portal cranes on board with a total weight of 686 tons, two crane buckets with a total weight of 27 tons, two ship holding lids with a total weight of 91 tons, one 20-foot container with a zip for covers weighing 2 tons and 129 empty containers.
