The Russian Foreign Ministry called “egregious and absolutely unacceptable” statements by French President Emmanuel Macron that Moscow is destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, Russian media write.
“Such attacks are in line with the anti -Russian line of the West to the demonization of Russia and indicate an attempt to transfer confrontation logic from Ukraine to other parts of the post -Soviet space, including the South Caucasus,” the statement of the Russian foreign policy said.
The statement also notes that “the absurd fabrications of the President of France speak of the disinterest of Paris in establishing a strong world in the region and calling into question the ability of his country to play a constructive role there.”
“Unlike France, which, even during periods of exacerbations between Baku and Yerevan, was limited to standard calls for peace, Russia in practical terms contributed to the settlement of the conflict. Our country made a decisive contribution to the signing of a tripartite statement by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia of November 9 2020, which laid an end to bloodshed, ”said the Russian Foreign Ministry.
