Russia refuses to return more than 400 aircraft

Russian air carriers refused to return more than 400 passenger aircraft, which were previously leased from foreign companies, the newspaper Washington Post.

The newspaper published data according to which at the time of the announcement of sanctions against Moscow in Russia there were 515 leasing aircraft, of which only 80 units were able to return. At the same time, problems arose with the return of aviation engines, which were also leased to Russian companies.

According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, the owners came to the conclusion that they would not be able to return the vast majority of the liners who are now in Russia. Companies that were insured by aircraft blocked in Russia have made many insurance claims worth about 10 billion dollars.

37 countries of Europe, North America and Asia joined sanctions against the aviation sector of the Russian Federation, which made them the most large -scale sanctions against this sector. Liding and the sale of aircraft, export of spare parts, software and maintenance of aircraft operated by Russian companies was banned. To support the aviation sector and save the system of air passenger transportation in the country, in March, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree that allows Russian companies to use aircraft taken to leasing for operation on intra -Russian lines.
