Russia remained observer under UN Human Rights Council

“It was decided to independently declare the early termination of the powers of Russia in the HCH … after the adoption of the unlawful and politically motivated UN-adopted resolution on the suspension of the membership of the Russian Federation in the HVC. The result of such a step is our transition from the status of a member of the Council to the observer status” . About this in an interview with RIA Novosti, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Vershinin.

According to him, if Russia had agreed on the Libyan Scenario on April 7, it would receive a similar “defeat in the rights” for the remaining year and a half years of membership in the HCH.

“We would be given the role of a silent viewer – no more than that,” said the Vershinin.

He noted that in the documents established by the HCH, nothing is said about measures after the suspension of the membership of any of the countries.
