Russia: US Citizen Was Released, Convicted Of Drug Smuggling

US citizen Mark Vogel, convicted in Russia for drug smuggling, is released from the conclusion.

This was announced on February 11 by the US presidential adviser to Michael Waltz.

Vogel was a teacher of the Anglo-American school in Moscow, as well as an employee of the US Embassy in Russia.

In August 2021, he was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport. 11 g of marijuana and 8 g of hash oil were found in his luggage, which he tried to carry in a box from under contact lenses.

In June 2022, the court sentenced him to 14 years in prison.

The Russian side has not yet officially confirmed information about the release of Vogel.
