Lithuania accused Russia of standing behind a fire that broke out at one of the enterprises in the capital of Vilnius in 2024.
Lithuania’s prosecutor’s office announced that she had prepared an indictment against a person accused of arson of a building of stores for selling furniture, textiles and goods for decorating a house in Vilnius on May 9, 2024.
The indictment states that at the time of the “arson” this person is not 18 years old, and he acted “in the interests of Russian military structures and special services.”
The statement of the General Prosecutor’s Office says that the suspect and another person allegedly held a secret meeting in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, and planned to set fire to several shopping centers in Lithuania and Latvia in exchange for 10,000 euros and a luxurious car.
“The goal of these terrorist acts was to seriously intimidate the society of both countries, to illegally force Lithuania, the European Union and other states to reduce or stop the support of Ukraine, as well as destabilize the most important political, economic and social structures of the state,” the statement said.
