“Russia advocates the transformation of the South Caucasus into a zone of peace and prosperity.” This was stated on Wednesday at a briefing by Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ivan Nechaev.
According to him, in its work in the regional direction, Russia promotes an exclusively creative agenda and are not going to compete with anyone.
“We have constructive goals,” he said.
Regarding the issue of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan, Nechaev noted that Moscow has once noted that relevant efforts should be made on the basis of tripartite statements by Russia’s leaders Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“Moscow does not object to the connection of non-regional players if they act in line with the mentioned agreements and contribute to their implementation. The main thing is to prevent duplication and subcover games with the goal of someone to weaken or insert sticks into the wheels. Unfortunately, with such tactics, we had to repeatedly collide, ”added Nechaev.
