One of the largest manufacturers of premium alcoholic beverages suspended the supply of champagne to Russia.
Moet Hennessy sent a letter to partners, which states that because of the amendments made to the Russian law, all imported champagne wines should be called “Sparkling Wine”. And manufacturers should rename their products, which, in turn, will require re-certification and marking. Manufacturers are not ready to go for such a step, RBC writes, which turned out to be a letter Moet Hennessy.
The authenticity of the document confirmed the edition of three sources on the Russian market.
In the center of studies of the federal and regional alcohol markets, Russia imports about 50 million liters of import sparkling and champagne wines per year. And the Moet Hennessy share accounts for less than two percent.
