Russia updates the foundations of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence, so that its opponents have no illusions about the readiness of Moscow to ensure its safety by all available means. This was said in an interview with RIA Novosti by the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko.
“We take into account the entire set of factors affecting strategic stability, our safety and defense. For this purpose, we update the foundations of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence so that the opponents have no illusions to ensure the security of the Russian Federation with all available means” – said Grushko.
He noted that “in the conceptual and political, and in military-technical sense, NATO nuclear countries, and the Blok himself, who declared itself nuclear, follow the path of improving the role of nuclear weapons in the alliance strategy.”
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not Russia, but the North Atlantic Alliance embarked on the path of confrontation.

Speaking about the presence between Russia and NATO of open communication channels to reduce tension, Glushkov said that the dialogue is preserved.
“There are so -called hot lines of communication and opportunities for emergency contacts. Dialogue at the level of ministers of the defense of Russia and the United States is preserved. Nevertheless, these channels are intended more for emergency cases, and not to search for ways to reduce tension,” he said.
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the risks of the military clash of Russia and NATO are growing.
“NATO unleashed and waging a hybrid war against us, in which Ukrainians are the main consumables. Alliance countries supply the regime (President of Ukraine Vladimir) Zelensky more and more long -range weapons, send their consultants, participate in operations planning, and provide intelligence.
