As previously reported, the ex-president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili said that he would arrive at his homeland for elections to local authorities, which were scheduled for October 2. In particular, Saakashvili said that he wanted to personally come to Georgia, and also called on all compatriots living abroad, to do the same.
Commenting on the upcoming return of the former president and the opposition leader, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili warned: the ex-president is immediately interpreted in prison, where it will “provide a lot of beautiful ties”, “Kommersant” reports.
According to Saakashvili, if even the Georgian authorities will put him in prison, “the Georgian people will free” their former president.
Mikhail Saakashvili, who left Georgia immediately after the expiration of official authority in 2013, was sentenced to Tbilisi Court to three and six years in prison for two criminal cases for exceeding and malicious use of official powers.
