Judge Mikhail Ginjolia sentenced Mikhail Saakashvili a total of 12 years and 6 months in prison. He also added a verdict of March 12 in the embezzlement case of more than 8.8 million Lari (about 3 million dollars) of budget funds for personal needs, according to which the third president was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
Saakashvili secretly arrived in Georgia in October 2021, but was detained, after which he was charged with an illegal crossing of the border. He penetrated the Georgian port city of Poti on a ferry from the Ukrainian city of Chernomorsk.
Currently, Mikhail Saakashvili is already serving a six -year term. The sentences against him were previously sentenced to pardon the murderers of Sandro Girgliani and the beating of deputy Valerie Gelashvili.
