The chairman of the 7th convocation of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, a candidate from the ruling party of Yeni Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarov was again elected.
Parliament held the first meeting after the elections of deputies held on September 1.
At the meeting, in which President Ilham Aliyev took part, the new chairman of the Milli Majlis was determined.
Sahiba Gafarov, nominated by the ruling party, was again elected chairman of the parliament. She also held this position in the 6th convocation and was a deputy in the 4th and 5th convocations of the Azerbaijani parliament.
Before entering politics, Gafarova worked as a teacher and administrator at various universities, specializing in modern Russian and American literature.
She is a philologist and author of more than 70 scientific works and textbooks.
