Sakhil Babaev announces continuation of reforms

“In accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, which he gave at the meeting following the first half of the current year, proposals will be prepared and submitted to the head of state to continue social reforms and next year.” This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the population Sakhil Babaev.

He noted a significant increase in the amount of social benefits in recent years.

“Over the past three and a half years in Azerbaijan, three packages of social reforms that covered four million citizens have been implemented, the head of the department said. Six billion manat was allocated for these purposes, that is, more than 20 percent of the state budget,” Babaev said.

According to him, during this period, the minimum wage in Azerbaijan increased 2.3 times, the wage fund – 2.2 times. Eight billion manat was additionally sent to the wage fund.

The head of the department also noted the growth of social benefits and pensions by 3.5 times, the minimum pension – 2.2 times, the average monthly pension – by 75 percent.

“funds allocated annually for benefits and pensions increased from 400 million to 1 billion manat compared to 2018, reaching 1.4 billion manat,” Babaev said.
