The main line of policy of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is to ensure the well -being of the population, as a result of which social reforms in the country are consistent. New decrees and orders signed in this direction once again confirm that Azerbaijan is a social state, and in the current crisis for the world the situation in the country, important steps are taken to support the welfare of citizens. This was said by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sakhil Babaev at a meeting of the board of the Ministry.
According to the minister, the three packages of reforms that covered four million people in 2018-2022 provided for the annual allocation of an additional 6 billion manat, and the current new package of social reforms provides for the annual allocation of 750 million manat. New social reforms differ in scale, once again social benefits for persons from vulnerable groups of the population, including benefits and pensions of 810 thousand people are increased. If in 2018 annual funds allocated for social benefits and pensions amounted to 300 million manat, now this amount exceeds 1.5 billion manat, this means an increase in the funds allocated in this direction by more than 5 times.
Babaev noted that the expenses of the State Fund of Social Protection under the Ministry in 2022 increased by 410 million manat compared to the previous year, amounting to 5.252 million manat. Last year, 4.948 million manat were sent to pension payments, this is 361 million manat more than in 2021.
The minister indicated that the State Agency for Employment under the Ministry of Labor last year provided 40 thousand people. 16.1 thousand people were involved in the self -employment program. This year, among the main goals, further expansion of the self -employment program, activities for professional training and career guidance.
