The volume of sales of electric vehicles in Turkey in 2023 increased by more than 8 times compared to the previous year, reaching 68,700 units.
Such data “Anadolu” leads with reference to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The total sales of electric vehicles in Turkey in 2022 amounted to 7,540 units. Of these, 7 thousand battery electric cars (BEV), and 540 – hybrid cars with a recharge from the network (PHEV).
And last year, 66 thousand battery electric vehicles and 2,700 were sold in Turkey – hybrid cars with recharge from the network.
The share of electric vehicles in the total sales of cars last year reached 10 percent. In 2022, this indicator amounted to 1.1 percent.
Park of electric vehicles over 9 years reached 82 thousand
According to the IEA, although in 2014 there were no sales of electric vehicles in Turkey, in 2015 110 PHEV sold in the country. This was followed by 44 BEV sales in 2016, 77 in 2017, 190 in 2018 and 230 in 2019.
In 2020, 400 PHEV and 890 BEV were sold in Turkey. In 2021, BEV sales increased to 3 thousand, and PHEV – to 920.
Thus, taking into account sales in 2022 and 2023, the total electric vehicle fleet in Turkey by the end of 2023 reached 82 thousand.
The Global Electric Vehicle Outlook report, annually published by the IEA, states that last year’s sales TOGG T10X, the fourth of the most sold electric car in November 2023, reached 20 thousand.
