Moldova authorities ceased relations with Russia after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, said Moldova President Maya Sandu.
“When we participated in the elections, we spoke for the cooperation and development of relations with Russia. But now relations with the leadership of Russia are stopped at all levels,” she said on the air of the Moldova -1 television channel, TASS reports.
According to her, “this happened in connection with the start of the conflict in Ukraine.”
Previously, Sandu said that the authorities do not plan to break off relations with the CIS, since we are talking about hundreds of agreements, including bilateral ones. According to her, the government is interested in continuing pragmatic cooperation even after the country has received the status of a candidate for joining the EU. However, the President of Moldova never took part in the CIS meetings.
