Saudi Arabia Calls To Cancel Sanctions Against Syria

Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud said they received positive messages from the USA, the European Union (EU) and other countries regarding the abolition of sanctions against Syria.

According to the Syrian news agency, Sana, Bin Farhan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria Assad Hassan Sheebani in Damascus. After the meeting, a joint press conference of ministers was held.

Having emphasized that Saudi Arabia supports the Syrian people, Bin Farhan said: “We once again declare the international community about the importance of the abolition of sanctions. We will continue to make efforts so that Syria will return to its worthy place.”

According to him, Saudi Arabia is conducting an active dialogue with the USA, the EU and other countries on the issue of relieving sanctions from Syria: “We get positive signals in this process and believe that the sanctions will be lifted in the near future”.

Syrian Foreign Minister Shebani said that the visit of Bin Farhana is a clear signal that Saudi Arabia supports the Syrian people.

“The problems are huge, and, of course, the sanctions should be canceled, and this problem should be overcome,” Shebani said, adding that the overthrown regime of Assad inherited the heritage of the destroyed state. Syria is ready to strengthen unity and cooperation in the Arab world. We are conducting an open dialogue with Saudi Arabia on all issues of political, economic and strategic cooperation, ”he said.

Having emphasized that the support of the Arab countries in the process of restoring Syria is crucial, Sheybani added that the possibilities of cooperation with Saudi Arabia in trade areas, infrastructure projects and job creation are currently evaluated.

Having emphasized that Syria’s return to the Arab world is a great opportunity for all Arab countries and, in particular, for Saudi Arabia, Sheybani added: “Negotiations are held in an absolutely open manner, and there is nothing that we could not discuss. We strive to establish strategic and special relations with Saudi Arabia. “

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Bin Farhan also met with the leader of the new administration of Syria Ahmed Ash Shara.
