The number of pilgrims who died in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj was increased to 1301. This was stated by the Minister of Health of the Kingdom of FAHD Ben Abdel Al-Jalyajel on the television channel Al-Gibarius, SPA agency reports.
He noted that this year the “extremely hot weather” was observed in the region, which influenced the health of many people who arrived in holy lands for pilgrimage.
“The number of deaths during Hajj was 1,301. Among the dead pilgrims, 83 percent did not have an appropriate visa,” he said.
The minister said that the treatment of some pilgrims affected by weather conditions continues.
Al-Jalyajel noted that many of the deceased pilgrims were elderly people, and also suffered from chronic diseases.
The Minister also expressed condolences in the dead pilgrims.
