Scientists called the preliminary cause of the death of 150 red-born nerves on the banks of the Caspian Sea. Recording with comments from experts is published on the page of the Caspian Environmental Center in Instagram, reports “Lenta.ru.”
According to preliminary data, these were cases of poaching, local residents could use animal skins for making caps.
In one of the publications of the ecocenter, it is noted that a large group of scientists from Moscow together with the Ministry of Sources of Dagestan explored the coast of the Caspian Sea. Director of the Institute for Ecology and Sustainable Development Alimurad Hajiyev said that the group found 30 seals, many of them had no skins. “These are young animals, for them for 1-2 years. The situation on the Caspian remains anxious,” he commented.
In turn, director of the Institute of Ecology and Sustainable Development and the Director General of the NEC Mammals, Andrei Boltunov confirmed that these were cases of poaching. According to him, experts took to examine their teeth to establish their age and floor.
A version of the poaching confirmed the head of environmental protection programs “Marine Mammals” Viktor Nikiforov. He stated the TV channel “360” that local residents could catch the nerve on the net and use their skins for making caps.
Earlier on May 6, it was reported that scientists from Moscow and Dagestan found on the Caspian Sea coast of more than 150 dead red-born nerves, with some were torn skins. It was assumed that the number of animals found could soon grow up to two hundred.
