Immunity in patients with coronavirus lasts for nine to ten months. This is reported by Swedish and Finnish scientists, reports Yle.
According to Asko Järvinen, the chief infectious disease specialist of the Medical District of Helsinki and Uusimaa HUS, a repeated positive result is often a relapse of the disease.
“Studies among re-infected have shown that it is mainly about the prolonged process of infection with the original virus,” Järvinen explained.
He also clarified that re-infection with COVID-19 most often occurs in a milder form. People with weakened immune systems are often at risk of getting infected again.
