Finnish scientists warn about the mass extinction of the deer of the Arctic. According to them, Lapland deer may disappear as a view of climate change.
Animals are accustomed to the temperature of the environment in 50 degrees Celsius, and therefore it remains a dense protective layer all year round. Therefore, they are hard to adapt to the increase in temperature. It is reported by BBC.
According to experts, the Arctic is heated faster than the rest of the world twice. So, the senior researcher at the Institute of Natural Resources of Finland Yoko Cumpool declares that the reindeer cannot dig ice, and therefore they have to leave the places of permanent habitat in search of a new land with a lichen who can be eaten.
Reindeer source is the main source of livelihood for many indigenous peoples in the Lapland region.
