SEC Secretary General: Azerbaijan Is Reliable Partner For Member States Of OES

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jahun Bayramov met with the General Secretary General of the Organization of Economic Cooperation (SEC) Assad Majid Khan on the session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting the parties discussed the issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OEC, as well as the prospects for interaction within the 29th session of the conference of the United Nations Frame Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to cooperation with the OES and is always ready to contribute to the expansion of regional cooperation as part of the organization.

It was noted that the expansion of cooperation in the areas of the economy, energy security and transportation and communication infrastructure is a priority for both sides.

emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between the member states of the organization and its contribution to the joint economic development of the region.

The parties focused on the significance of an increase in domestic and interregional trade in accordance with areas and goals of the organization.

Bayramov informed the interlocutor about the current situation in the region, restoration work in the liberated territories, as well as the process of normalization and peaceful dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

General Secretary Assad Majid Khan noted a highly assessed of Azerbaijan’s active and productive participation in the organization’s activities, emphasizing that the country is a reliable partner for the member states of the OES.

He also drew attention to the importance of the idea of ​​transition to an environmentally friendly environment and expressed his readiness to support the initiatives proposed by Azerbaijan in this direction.

The meeting also noted the importance of choosing the city of Shusha as the tourist capital of the SEC for 2026, the ideas of possible joint events this year were discussed.

In addition, an exchange of views on other mutually interested issues was held at the meeting.
