Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maria Paychinovich-Burich made a statement in connection with tension on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, in which she expressed concern about the aggravation of hostilities along the border of the two countries.
According to Paychinovich-Burich, disagreements between the Member States of the Council of Europe should be decided through negotiations and peaceful settlement.
“Recently, direct contacts between the highest authorities of both countries have been promising, and this must be continued. Consizing the Council of Europe, Azerbaijan and Armenia have taken on the obligation to resolve the conflict peacefully. This obligation must be respected. The Council of Europe is ready to help in peacekeeping efforts that contribute to the achievement of peaceful settlement, ”she said.
