Washington actively “uses” the digital environment to fight countries that defend their own independence.
This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev at a meeting of the Scientific Council at the Council of Ministers, according to Tuesday, April 9, Russian state media.
“The scope of information technology today has gained not only economic, but also military and geopolitical dimension. Having huge resources in the field of computer technology, software, Internet technologies, the United States actively use them for interstate confrontation,” he said.
Information space has become an arena of the confrontation of the United States and their satellites with countries that pursue an independent policy and strive to strengthen their sovereignty, Patrushev said.
“We see how the so -called rules of responsible behavior of states in the digital environment are actually imposed primarily, which are actually imposed on the world community,” said the secretary of the Russian Security Council.
Based on these rules, Patrushev continued, the West, at its own discretion, determines which states are considered authoritarian and undemocratic.
“Russia, for its part, consistently achieves the formation of a system of international information security based on strict observance of the principles of sovereign equality of states and non -interference in their internal affairs,” he stressed.
According to him, the Western countries do not want to see Russia strong and independent, and therefore they are trying to inflict a strategic defeat by all means.
Russia is now facing a lot of calls, often they come directly from its geopolitical opponents who do not want to see Russia as a strong and independent state, Patrushev noted.
“The United States and its allies flatly refused to recognize the indigenous interests of Russia in the field of ensuring national security and are now doing everything to inflict a strategic defeat – both on the battlefield and in other areas,” the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation added.
