President of Senegal Maki Sall announced that he would not run for the presidential election in February 2024.
President Sall in an interview with state television RTS ‘made statements about his candidacy for the third term.
In particular, SAL announced that he would not run for presidency in the elections in February 2024.
The president noted that, despite the fact that the Constitution provides him with the opportunity to run as a candidate, he will not use this right.
Maki Sall noted that he made this decision after long thoughts.
Earlier, the leader of the opposition and presidential candidate Usman Sonko said that under any circumstances he would not accept the candidacy of Salla for the third term.
SALL was the first time elected by the President of Senegal in 2012. The second time he took the presidency in 2019.
