Serbia can join sanctions against Russia, if it considers it necessary for its interests, said Ivitsa Dachich, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic,
in an interview with EuRACTIV.
Since 2014, when Russia has annexed Crimea, Serbia has not imposed sanctions, because she believed that “this is not in its interests,” said Dachich.
Nevertheless, the minister emphasized, Serbia “condemns the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine” and voted accordingly in all international organizations. Belgrade also considers to join the EU “priority”, said Dachich. And this requires joining a pan -European policy, including in issues of sanctions.
According to Dacich, such a step is not excluded in the event of a change in the situation, including in terms of the economy. “If it changes that it determines the interests of Serbia, then our decision will be adjusted. We at each moment evaluate what will be the best for our economy, for our situation in the world, for Serbia citizens,” the minister explained.
