President of Serbia Alexander Vuchich said that Belgrade is in search of an alternative to Russian energy resources. In an interview with Reuters, the Serbian leader noted that the country is going to purchase oil in Venezuela, and coal is in Indonesia.
“We will take Iraqi oil. I will also try to negotiate with Venezuela. We are ready to import fuel from anyone. We are not picky,” Vucich said.
Next year, Belgrade also plans to buy oil from Azerbaijan. Gas reserves in the country’s repositories are now increased to the maximum and they should definitely be enough for 2 months, Vucich believes. In addition, the politician announced the desire of Serbia to purchase about 2 million tons of coal from China and Indonesia for CHPs, which produce about 70% of electricity in the country.
