In the city of Kerestzh in the north of Iran, death sentences against seven prisoners are executed.
As the Iranian human rights organization with the headquarters in Norway reports, four of them were sentenced to the highest degree of punishment for rape, the rest – for involvement in drug trafficking.
The Supreme Commissar of the UN Human Rights Folker Turk previously said that since the beginning of the year at least 209 people have been executed in Iran. He expressed concern to such statistics and urged the Iranian authorities to cancel the death penalty or introduce a moratorium.
