Azerbaijani medical science has suffered a difficult loss. At the age of 82, the head of the department of maxillofacial surgery of the Azerbaijani State Institute for the improvement of Aziz Aliyeva Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Oktai Seidbekov, died.
Oktay Seidbekov was born in Baku. He graduated from Azerbaijani Medical University, in 1967 – 1969 he studied at graduate school at the clinic of the Moscow Central Institute for the improvement of doctors, after graduate school, in 1970-1978. – Assistant of the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Azerbaijani State Institute for the improvement of doctors named after A. ALIEVA. In 1978 – 1990. – Associate Professor of the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Azerbaijan State Institute for Advanced training of doctors named after A. ALIEVA. From 1991 until the last days he has been the head of the Department of Dentistry and the Maxillofacial Surgery of the Institute.
Oktay Sedbekov is the author of more than 300 scientific works in the field of dentistry and maxillofacial surgery, textbooks, and methodological recommendations. His articles were printed not only in Azerbaijan, but also outside the republic. The scientist made a decent contribution to Azerbaijani medical science.
The merits of Professor Oktai Seidbekov in the field of medicine in Azerbaijan were appreciated by the state. In 1987, he was awarded the title of Honored Doctor of Azerbaijan, in 2000 – Honored Worker of Science of Azerbaijan.
